I have had regular 5 week appointments for at least the last 15 years being served by Becky for at least the last 10 - 12 years. I feel very sad that my appointment (for highlights)on 28th February was not the usual positive, relaxing and enjoyable visit it usually is. When I arrived for my appointment the front door was open, which I found very unusual, as it was probably the coldest day we have had this year. On entering the salon I understood why the door was open. There was a terrible smell of some type of solution. I thought perhaps something had been dropped. I was then given to understand that it was, in fact, an acrylic that was now being used for nails in the Beauty Room. It was one of those smells that would give you a headache and make you feel sick. The door to the Beauty Room was open all the time while I was there. I found this quite unusual, as in all the years I have been to Debut, the door is always shut when the beautician has a client in. Although the smell was not as strong while I was sitting waiting for my highlight solution act, I was still quite aware of it and I heard other clients saying what an unpleasant smell it was. Once I had my highlight solution washed off, I did say to Becky I would be quite happy for the door to be open again as there was only me and another customer in the shop. Becky opened the door. The Beautician was taking payment from her customer at the desk and she apparently asked Becky if she was too hot. Becky answered her that it was because of the smell. After a few minutes Becky asked me if I would mind if she went to have a quick word with the Beautician just to explain why she opened the door. I was quite happy with that. It would appear that the Beautician was not happy with Becky's explanation. I am assuming it was then time for the Beautician to go home and several times she walked in and out of the shop taking her belongings to the car, making us very aware of her presence.
