About us

Now one of the top Salons in the local area. Studio 8 is a very spacious, clean and modern beauty salon in Portsmouth. Set in a unique location on the prestigious 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour Business Park. The salon is fully air conditioned offering an exquisite ambiance and Spa experience.

Our reputation as one of the best Beauty Salons offering Spa quality services and treatments in the Portsmouth area is constantly growing. Our clients are always recommending us to friends and families and in turn the area and number of customers that we serve is consistently growing. Many of our regular clients are now a mixture of people very local to us along with others that travel up to 50 miles for their pampering and treatments. With this stamp of approval, we’re pleased to see our customer service philosophy is working well.

The service I received was ten out of ten.
From the moment I entered the door all staff were friendly and personable.
Jamie is extremely good at what she does. Whilst she is a professional through and through, she is personable and was able to put me at ease (no easy task given that this was my first intimate Brazilian).

So this was my first time having a bikini wax - not going to lie, I was terrified and sweating everywhere. My hands, my back, pits - everywhere. Jamie was absolutely fantastic, she made me like I had known her for years and brought a level of comfort few people can give. She made the experience so easy, even though there was a little pain - which is normal - it was nowhere near as painful as I thought and that was all down to Jamie making the best first experience for me. Thank you so much and I will definitely the best first time waxing I could ask for.

I booked my future daughter in law in to have eyebrows shaped and dyed and to remove shellac nails and replaced
Unfortunately it wasn’t completed in the initial appointment time as beautician ran over time so my future daughter in law had to return to the salon an hour later( lucky enough we don’t live far away ) on her return her nails were completed but not to the standards she is used too
No discount was offered or complementary gift or discount on next visit ( not that she intendeds to return)
She is getting married next week and now will visit another nail bar to have her nails re done !
I recommended studio 8 to her as I’ve had pedicure and eye lash treatment there in the past but i to will not be returning

Thank you for your feedback. We must clarify a few facts for anyone reading this review. We have now had the opportunity to discuss this directly with you and have offered to remove our gel application. It may be possible that your daughter-in-law was looking for something different but could not explain it adequately. As we explained, the service was delivered as booked, and we were unaware of any issue; therefore, there was no reason to offer a discount or rework as the review describes as we were not aware there was an issue.

We have not received any contact from your daughter in laws regarding her unhappiness with the treatment. As you can see, we receive many good reviews, so this is highly unusual. Unfortunately, you posted your point of view without contacting us to discuss it, so we were able to explain. We, therefore, feel it is only fitting to respond to this review online.
The appointment was booked to remove the existing 4-week-old gel polish & an express file & polish application. The appointment booked was for a basic gel application which does not include full cuticle work. Had cuticle work been required, a full manicure should have been booked. The gel polish was applied by another salon abroad. It was advised at the time of the appointment that it may take longer to remove and this became apparent as the therapist worked, putting her at risk of running late for her next client.

Unfortunately, not all gel polish is the same quality and ingredients, and some contain acrylic. These cannot be removed with our removal products as they are designed to remove our products. This was explained to your daughter-in-law before treatment; however, you were not present and, therefore, unaware of this. Therefore, there may have been some misunderstanding when posting the review.

To be clear, we tried to accommodate the appointment by asking your daughter-in-law to return an hour or so later as we could not keep the next client waiting through no fault of her own. Our website states that we may charge extra for removing other salon products. This was not charged. Goda was happy to return, and the gel application was applied. It is irrelevant that it was for a wedding as the treatment is the same standard unless special finishes were requested (which they were not); however, had she wanted an upgrade to a specific nail art, this should have been requested as nail art and booked at the time. Our lesson learnt is that we have updated our policies and will not accommodate the removal of other salon gel when we are unable to identify that the product is compatible with our gel removal system.

Very disappointing experience. The quality of the treatment received is worsening from one time to the next. The appointments are never as long as advertised but yesterday it was ridiculous: 29 minutes instead of 40. On the clock. And the time of the actual use of the GENEO machine was 15 mins at the most. The rest was just a facial massage. I had this treatment enough times already to know what it should involve. It really was disappointing yesterday and for the price, really upsetting. No eye cream either at the end… poor quality service.

Our reputation as one of the best Beauty Salons offering Spa quality services and treatments in the Portsmouth area is constantly growing.
